Roberto Noferini graduated with honours from the Conservatoire Verdi of Milan under Gabriele Baffero and subsequently refined his training with Arthur Grumiaux, Salvatore Accardo, Corrado Romano, Dora Schwartzberg, Pavel Vernikov and, for chamber music, with Dario De Rosa. In Baroque violin he attended courses with Goebel, F. Birsak and S. Rambaldi. He has won numerous first prizes and special awards in major international competitions (Postacchini in Fermo, Viterbo, Portogruaro, Lipizer in Gorizia, Perosi in Biella). A founding member since 2000 of the SchuberTrio (with Andrea Noferini on cello and Giulio Giurato on piano), he performs extensively in chamber music concerts, receiving unanimous acclaim. Recognised by critics as one of the most brilliant violinists of his generation, he has performed as soloist in some of the major violin concertos (Bach, Locatelli, Vivaldi, Pugnani, Mozart, Paganini, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Schnittke) and collaborates in chamber ensembles with Bruno Canino, Alessandro Specchi, Denis Zardi, Salvatore Accardo, Massimo Quarta, Isabelle Faust, Cristiano Rossi, Bruno Giuranna, Sylvie Gazeau, Anthony Pay, Donato D\u2019Antonio, Luca Rasca, Emanuele Segre and Giampaolo Bandini.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Since 2009 he has explored Baroque and Classical repertoire on period violin and bow, performing in duo with Chiara Cattani on harpsichord and fortepiano, with concerts across Europe; they were prizewinners of the TIM competition in the Baroque music section held in Paris. With his sister Anna (violinist at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino) and his brother Andrea (principal cello of the Teatro dell\u2019Opera di Roma), he performs in a string trio dedicated to the memory of their father Giordano Noferini, composer, conductor, and director of the \u201cGiovanni Battista Martini\u201d Conservatoire of Bologna from 1974 to 1977. Roberto Noferini is also deeply engaged with contemporary repertoire and has worked with Luciano Berio, Salvatore Sciarrino, Goffredo Petrassi, Niccol\u00f2 Castiglioni, Giacomo Manzoni, Bruno Bettinelli, R. Spinosa and R. Cacciola. His versatility has also led him to perform solo works alternating with poetry readings by Paola Gassman, Arnoldo Fo\u00e0, Ugo Pagliai, Giancarlo Giannini and Ottavia Piccolo. His recording of Paganini\u2019s 24 Caprices in a world premiere recording using gut strings, released by the Tactus label, received major international acclaim and quickly reached its third reprint. Among his other recordings are two CDs for Bongiovanni with pianist Bruno Canino (Busoni sonatas and Bazzini pi\u00e8ces), a CD for Atopos featuring Messiaen\u2019s *Quatuor pour la fin du temps*, and numerous recordings for Tactus, including Sammartini\u2019s trio sonatas with Bruno Canino on harpsichord, the complete chamber music of M. E. Bossi with the SchuberTrio, the complete sonatas of Giuseppe Sarti and the 12 Sonatas Op. 2 by G. B. Somis with Chiara Cattani on the harpsichord, the two violin concertos by Pugnani in a world premiere recording, a CD of Italian music for violin and organ with A. Toschi, a violin and guitar CD with Donato D\u2019Antonio dedicated to the music of N. Paganini, and for Movimento Classical the six sonatas by J. S. Bach for violin and harpsichord with C. Cattani. For Stradivarius he recorded chamber music by E. Morricone in a world premiere with the Noferini Quartet, and for Brilliant two double CDs of chamber music with piano (trios, quartets and quintets) by Sgambati and Martucci with the Noferini Quartet, as well as a CD dedicated to Paganini in duo with guitarist Giulio Tampalini and with the Noferini Trio. He is professor of Violin at the prestigious Rossini Conservatoire of Pesaro. He also teaches at the G. Sarti Municipal Music School in Faenza and at the summer violin masterclass \u201cM. Allegri\u201d in Faenza, held at the end of August, of which he is also artistic director. Roberto Noferini has been awarded the Knight of the Order of S. Agata by the Republic of San Marino for high artistic and cultural merit. He performs on a Giuseppe Scarampella (ex-Bazzini) violin from 1865 and, for Baroque repertoire, on a Don Nicola Amati from 1732, using bows by E. Sartory, A. Lamy and J.
