Throughout his career he has focused on and deepened both solo and chamber repertoire, with a particular interest in historically informed performance; he currently owns a selection of historical instruments, including a late-18th-century clavichord copy, a replica of a Viennese Broadwood fortepiano made by Ugo Casiglia, an 1851 French Pleyel piano, and an 1885 Bösendorfer grand piano. His recording debut, featuring the Piano Concertos by the Danish composer Frederik Kuhlau and the Scandinavian composer Franz Berwald for the Inedita label, reveals his commitment to exploring a repertoire that avoids conventional paths, through the discovery of often neglected works or new editions of well-known masterpieces. This led to a recording of Beethoven’s early Concerto in E-flat major WoO 4 (1784), which received significant critical acclaim in Italy and abroad. His research into Beethoven’s concertos continued with the Rondo in B-flat major and the Concerto in D, Op. 61a, both enthusiastically received by international musicological community and nominated for the Prix International du Disque in Cannes. The recording of the seventh volume of the Beethoven Rarities series, dedicated to the revision of Concerto Op. 58 in its 1808 autograph version and Concerto Op. 19 with the autograph cadenza from the Kafka Sketchbook, received a five-star review from the magazine *Musica*. In 2014 he began a collaboration with the Dutch label Brilliant; the Viola and Piano Sonatas by Paul Hindemith were described as “top of the list” by the American magazine *Fanfare*. The three solo piano sonatas by Hindemith, released in 2016, received the highest rating – “supersonic” – from the Luxembourg magazine *Pizzicato*. James H. North wrote in *Fanfare*: “in addition to his credentials as a performer on historical instruments, Paciariello offers a grand, romantic vision (…) a Gustav Leonhardt in a Van Cliburn.” His recent release completes the project of the Complete Beethoven Piano Sonatas on historical instruments in nine CDs for the Da Vinci label. As a sound engineer and production director, he has collaborated with Sony, Brilliant, Da Vinci, Piano Classics, Tactus, Stradivarius, and Challenge Records.
