Born in Pesaro, he graduated with special mention of honor;
he studied with W. Di Stefano, M. Cazacu, W. Grimmer, M. Scano and followed master classes at the ‘Accademia Chigiana’ of Siena with M. Maisky and A. Meneses and chamber music with the Trio di Trieste, P. N. Masi, K. Bogino P. Vernikov and A. Menieur.
He has performed as a soloist with G. Pehlivanian, C. Poppen, Myung Whun Chung, K. Nagano, Sir A. Pappano, Y. Valchua, B. Haitink, D. Gatti
He also performed in the Italian premiere of HK Gruber cello concerto under the direction of the composer.
In 1997, in Paris, at the international competition “M.Rostropovich” he received the special prize for the best performance of the piece “Spins and Spells” by K. Saariaho and in 1998 he won the competition for principal cello at the 0. R. T. in Florence
He has worked as a principal cello with La Scala Philharmonic Orchestra, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Symphonica d’Italia, Symphoniker Hamburg and Lucerne Festival Orchestra invited by Claudio Abbado.
He is also principal cello in the Orchestra Mozart from 2010.
He has collaborated with renowned conductors such as M. -Whun Chung, G. Sinopoli, W. Sawallisch, Y. Temirkanov, L. Maazel, C. Abbado, R. Muti, G. Pretre, M. Rostropovich, G. Dudamel, V. Gergiev, K. Masur, Sir J. E. Gardiner etc…..
and with Chung, A. Lonquich, Y. Kikuchi, S. Shoji, R. Christ, L. Kavakos, M. Brunello, M. Argerich, G. Braunstein, E. Pace, F. Manara and A. Lucchesini in chamber music performances.
Instrumental to his work alongside that of teaching as a professor of Cello in various courses throughout Italy and was Professor of Cello for the master’s degree in Santa Cecilia conservatory of music in Rome and chamber music in L. Perosi conservatory. Now he is professor in G. Rossini conservatory in Pesaro.
He recorded for Decca, La Bottega Discantica and he is Promu Label artist. Plays a Carlo Giuseppe Oddone cello built in 1903.
