Born in Ravenna, he began his musical studies in his hometown.
Since his youth, he has been a member of Accademia Bizantina as violin and viola player.
In his concert activity as a violist he has played as a soloist, in chamber music ensembles and in symphonic and opera orchestras (Teatro alla Scala). He also developped an interest in contemporary music and he collaborated with Luciano Berio and Azio Corghi for recordings and première performances.
Constantly broadening his knowledge in the field of early music and having a flair for improvisation, he has devoted himself mainly to this repertoire with the violin.
He collaborates with Il Giardino Armonico, l’Arpeggiata, Academia Montis Regalis, Ensemble Artaserse (Philippe Jaroussky), Imaginarium and Suonar Parlante. He regularly performs at the most important European and American early music venues and festivals.
He has recorded for Teldec, Decca, Naïve, Harmonia Mundi, Hyperion, Virgin and for the major European and North American radios.
He teaches at the Conservatory of Music in Pesaro.

Since 2011 he is concertmaster of Accademia Bizantina.
