The state Conservatory "G. Rossini" in Pesaro was founded as a Musical Lyceum by explicit request in Gioacchino Rossinis
testament. Every year it accepts a good number of foreign students, both from EU and non-EU countries. Ensuring a wider
circulation of ideas and experiences by increasing the number of foreign students, offering to internal students new
opportunities abroad, and promoting the academic exchange between teachers, are among the main aims of the Conservatory
and the chief reason for our application to obtain the EUC. LLP projects offers a wide range of opportunities, first of
all the mobility of students and teachers to promote the sharing of musical techniques, knowledge and experiences. Our
goal is to have a 10% students of high level courses on international mobility.
The main study fields that we will work to improve through the LLP program are musical theatre (all fields related to
singing
and stage work), jazz (wider knowledge about the different styles through international experiences), ancient
music (especially keyboard studies: our Conservatory organises every year a national harpsichord competition for
conservatories students that in 2008 will become open to all European countries), musical pedagogy (we are interested in
the development of musical instruments pedagogy). The Conservatory will search partners to work with in these fields by
exchanging teachers, creating multilateral projects and thematic networks. The same fields will be privileged for student
placement, in order to guarantee high quality curricula, progress monitoring and a greater knowledge.
In order to give the maximum of visibility to this program, a special section of the Conservatory home page (in Italian and
English) on its website will be dedicated to the Erasmus activities and opportunities, to give students, teachers foreign
institutions and anyone interested in this program the most clear and timely information. In the same page it will be
published the EPS.
Specific actions will be programmed to inform our teachers and students of the LLP opportunities and on how to participate
(information at enrolment for students, on public concerts or conferences programs...). Great publicity will be also given
to the program results on the Conservatory website and in public conferences.
In order to disseminate 'best practices', the policies between institutions and all documents that may be useful to improve
the program quality will also be published on the Conservatory home page.
The Conservatory has never had in his history any episode of racism and discrimination but, according to the law, it has
among his institutional organs an Equal Opportunities Committee working to increase attention on gender problems, and it
will create shortly a Committee against Discrimination in Work and Study.
Quality of academic mobility activities
The Conservatory Rossini uses a credit system that makes easier credit recognition for incoming and outgoing students. The curricula of both first and second cycle degrees, with specifications of duration and credits, are published on the Conservatory home page (in Italian and in English)
To ensure high quality in the realisation of International Exchange programs, the Conservatory has created an Erasmus Committee that will supervise every aspect of students and teachers mobility, working in constant contact with the Academic Council, that is responsible of the Conservatory management.
The person responsible for the mobility in the Erasmus Committee will work with the partner institutions to arrange policies and exchange programs for both students and teachers. The person responsible for ECTS will ensure a full recognition of curricula and credits and will work on DS.
The Erasmus Committee fixes the rules for mobility and gives to the selected students and teachers tutoring and informations: information on policies between partner institutions, practical information on travelling, specific information on curricula of foreign partner Institutions, information on courses, language.... The Committee helps incoming students and teachers in finding accommodations, especially those inexpensive for students, together with Pesaro Municipality, ERSU (Regional University Study Right Commission) and Tourist Public Agency. Incoming teachers accommodations will be financially supported by the Conservatory and great publicity will be given to their courses.
The Committee will examine the possibility of offer Italian language courses for incoming students in cooperation with the Urbino University: English language courses are in all curricula of the Conservatory: outgoing students may request special intensive courses; if necessary, basic courses for different languages will be offered.
Quality of student placement activities
The Conservatoryè’’s aim for LLP student placement is to offer to students a qualified opportunity of work experience in foreign professional institutions. Our goal is to have a 10% of the two years course students in placements. Students will be chosen on the basis of their grades (with a required minimum of 27/30).
The choice of the partner institutions will be concentrated in these fields: orchestra (goal: improvement of orchestral practices and techniques in a foreign context), musical theatre (goal: improvement of skills for different professional figures of musical theatre: singers, conductors, movement directors...), musical management (goal: improvement of different systems of musical management organisation in theatres, concert associations, musical foundations..), musical librarian cataloguing (goal: improvement of cataloguing techniques and electronic publications in international contexts). The criteria for placement of students, the typology and duration of stage period and its aims will be decided in accord with partner institutions and will be stated in the policy signed by the Conservatory, the institution and the student. Progresses will be periodically evaluated in place by a tutor, chosen by the Conservatory.
At the end of the stage period the student and the institution will produce a relation to certify the goals attainment. Based on the initial policy and on the final statement, the stage period will be recognised in the student curriculum. The placement program will be monitored by the Erasmus Committee.
